Do you want to build a rewarding career in health? Have you considered courses such as Physiotherapy, Osteopathy or maybe even medicine but been put off by the high ATAR score requirements? Or did you miss out on a first round offer to one of these courses? Then why not consider myotherapy?

A career in Myotherapy will provide you with the opportunity to make a difference to people's physical health and wellbeing. Through evidence-informed assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, myotherapists treat a wide range of musculoskeletal pain and associated conditions such as back pain, headaches, sports injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, pregnancy support and more.

In short: myotherapy helps people to move better, feel better and live their best life.

The depth of manual therapy experience, as well as comprehensive anatomy and physiology knowledge will set you up with an amazing set of hands-on skills that will put you in the forefront of a very competitive field. The myotherapy qualification equips you with a range of skills and knowledge in physical assessment, manual therapy treatment, and exercise prescription.

Myotherapists also learn how to apply dry needling therapy, myofascial cupping, joint mobilisations, soft tissue techniques and much more.

The demand for myotherapists is growing, with many opportunities existing for therapists to work in multimodality healthcare clinics, private practice and other healthcare settings. Myotherapists are typically sought out for their broad range of clinical knowledge and skills.

The myotherapy industry has been growing over the past 40 years and community awareness and use of myotherapy services has grown considerably over this time. As our aging population grows, the healthy lifestyle movement continues to expand and as Australia’s love of physical activity grows even further, the demand for qualified myotherapists increases.

The good news is, if you received an ATAR lower than what you hoped for, or if you didn't get into the health course of your first choice, there are pathways available to become a qualified myotherapist.

There are two study options available to become a qualified myotherapist:

1. Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Myotherapy) - 3 years full time or 6 years part time

2. Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy - 2 years (includes the completion of Diploma Remedial Massage)

The Bachelor of Health Science: Clinical Myotherapy is delivered through Torrens University (via Think Education). Their state of the art facility in Melbourne focuses on a hands-on learning experience and takes a fresh approach to learning with available options to study online.

The Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy is delivered at multiple locations across Australia, including Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Wodonga TAFE, Q Academy (QLD) and Melbourne Institute of Massage Therapy (MIMT).

Explore your options and find out intake dates by searching for ‘myotherapy education’ and see where myotherapy can take you!
