Evidence for Exercise® online courses 

Evidence for Exercise® was developed to improve access to high quality scientific analysis of exercise advice. We have comprehensively reviewed the available research over several years across a range of disciplines – to provide clear and simple evidence-based, best practice home exercise instructions for the benefit of patients and clients of all musculoskeletal, health and fitness practitioners and instructors. Our online courses involve:

  • Self-paced study using downloadable exercise prescriptions and practitioner notes
  • Multiple choice questionnaires to obtain PDP’s
  • Immediate confirmation of completion

Beginner and intermediate exercises for the Jaw, Neck and Upper Back

4 PDP’s, Cost: $100 + GST

Exercises for the neck CPD Myotherapy Association

Course content includes causes of temporomandibular joint pain restriction, early intervention active neck movement and deep neck flexor exercises for neck pain and the benefits of thoracic extension exercises.
Included exercise prescriptions and practitioner notes:

  • Beginner exercises for the jaw
  • Intermediate exercises for the jaw
  • Beginner exercises for the neck
  • Intermediate exercises for the neck
  • Beginner exercises for the upper back
  • Intermediate exercises for upper back extension (equipment)

Beginner and intermediate exercises for the shoulder

4 PDP’s, Cost: $100 + GST

Course content includes incorporation of functionally orientated exercises, the effects of excessive activity of the upper trapezius, safe prescription of eccentric exercises and exercises for overhead activities.

Included exercise prescriptions and practitioner notes:

  • Beginner exercises for the scapula
  • Beginner exercises for the shoulder (elastic band)
  • Beginner exercises for the shoulder (weights)

Beginner and intermediate exercises for the lower back and abdominals

Course content includes the advantages of maintaining a natural lumbar lordosis during certain exercises and activities, effects of yoga and meditation on the central nervous system, breathing techniques and differences between abdominal hollowing and bracing and when to use them.

  • Beginner exercises for the lower back
  • Intermediate exercises for the lower back
  • Beginner yoga for the lower back
  • Intermediate exercises for the abdominals
  • Intermediate exercises for the abdominals (bolster)


Beginner and Intermediate exercises for the Hip and Lower Limb

7 PDP’s, Cost: $175 + GST

Course content includes exercises that preferentially activate gluteal muscles over tensor fascia latae and those that result in high activation levels, analyses of the role of vastus medialis obliquus, excessive medial femoral rotation and quadriceps dominance on patellofemoral pain and intrinsic foot muscle strength for plantar fasciitis.

Included exercise prescriptions and practitioner notes:

  • Intermediate exercises for the gluteals (low tensor fascia latae)
  • Intermediate exercises for the gluteals (step up box)
  • Intermediate high activation exercises for the gluteals (non-weight-bearing)
  • Intermediate high activation exercises for the gluteals (weight-bearing)
  • Advanced exercises for the gluteals
  • Beginner closed chain quadriceps exercises for patellofemoral pain
  • Beginner open chain quadriceps exercises for patellofemoral pain
  • Exercises for plantar fasciitis


Otago exercise programme (falls prevention)

3 PDP’s, Cost: $75 + GST

We have comprehensively reviewed the available research relating to each and every exercise within the Otago exercise programme, which is aimed at preventing falls in older adults. Course content includes understanding and assessing risk factors for falls and importance of balance and lower limb strength and flexibility.
