Recipients of TMA Award
Recipients of The Toni Moynihan Award
September 2011 - Cher Hetherington
Cher Hetherington has uniquely contributed to the profession of Myotherapy by introducing a graduate program at Shepparton Myotherapy. This program is an opportunity for third year students to develop their treating and assessment techniques with the option of future employment within the business. This program has been very successful and has acted as a bridge for graduates entering the professional world of either subcontracting or beginning their own practice which can be a daunting process.
"I am honoured to receive this award, in memory of Toni Moynihan. Who in my mind was “Myotherapy”. Toni was courageous, ambitious and most of all kind and now dearly missed...I believe that Myotherapy is truly an amazing profession with unlimited scope." - Cher Hetherington, 2011 TMA Recipient
September 2010 - Dr Karen Lucas
Karen Lucas with her many years as a Myotherapist; teaching, researching, practicing, mentoring & also a National and International presenter, exemplifies these qualities and is a highly regarded and fitting recipient of the Inaugural 2010 'Toni Moynihan Award'.
Karen was instrumental in the introduction of the award and for setting the criteria of eligibility even though Karen had no idea she was chosen as the Recipient for the award in 2010. For those that were at last year's conference where Karen was a guest presenter, would attest to Karen's passion and commitment to the Myotherapy Profession.
“It was a huge honour to receive the TMA in September at the 2010 Myotherapy Conference. There is something very special about being recognised by your peers, especially when it is so unexpected. Hearing kind words being spoken and receiving the award from Ray (Toni’s brother who travelled from interstate to be part of the presentation), Neil, the IRMA president and more than 100 colleagues was extremely touching. I would thoroughly recommend getting involved in this award, either by considering how you could contribute to our profession or by nominating a colleague for the TMA and definitely by attending the presentation ceremony of this year’s award.” - Dr Karen Lucas, 2010 TMA Recipient
